Château Favray is located at the eastern end of the Pouilly‑Fumé appellation in the Loire Valley, distinguished by its rare Tonnerre limestone soils, which impart tension and aging potential to the wines. Today, the estate is managed by the Quentin family, with approximately 16.5 hectares planted exclusively to Sauvignon Blanc under sustainable viticulture.
The château’s history dates back to the 17th century, when it served as the residence of French noblewoman Françoise de la Rivière. Winemaking flourished for centuries until the phylloxera crisis in the late 19th century brought production to a halt. In 1980, current owner Quentin David revived the estate, combining modern winemaking with traditional terroir expression, re‑establishing Château Favray as a benchmark of Pouilly‑Fumé.
Today, Château Favray is renowned not only for its distinctive Sauvignon Blanc but also for its commitment to family stewardship, sustainability, and the unique limestone terroir that defines its wines.
