(James Suckling's rating: 94 points)

One of the oldest estates in the Médoc, Domaine de Léoville was once owned by noble French families before passing to the Las Cases family. Following its division in the 19th century, Château Léoville Las Cases was established.

Today recognized as a Super Second of the 1855 classification, its Grand Vin comes from the historic heart of the original terroir dating back to the 17th century. Situated in the northern part of Saint-Julien, right next to Pauillac and separated from First Growth Château Latour by only a wall, it enjoys exceptional terroir. Managed by the Delon family since the late 19th century, the estate is now represented by Jean-Hubert Delon, also proprietor of Château Potensac and Château Nénin.

Tasting Notes:
(Robert Parker's rating: 94 points)
Deep garnet colored with a touch of brick, it delivers pronounced, beautifully pure crème de cassis, blackberry preserves and prunes scents with an undercurrent of cigar box, licorice, pencil lead and hoisin, plus a touch of espresso. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has impressive richness and depth, coating the mouth with velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy... Drink it now and for the next 20 years+.

Loads of tobacco and mushroom with some wet earth and currant throughout. Medium-bodied, creamy and juicy with lovely energy. Real Bordeaux here. Savory finish.
