Nicolas Potel 出生於釀酒世家,其父 Gérard Potel 曾掌管 Volnay 名莊 Domaine de la Pousse d’Or。

Nicolas Potel – A winemaking legacy in Burgundy. Born into a winemaking family, Nicolas was the son of Gérard Potel, who managed the renowned Domaine de la Pousse d’Or in Volnay. Raised among the vines, Nicolas was deeply influenced by his father and gained winemaking experience in Australia and California. In 1997, following his father’s sudden passing and the sale of the family estate, Nicolas started anew.
In 1998, he founded Maison Nicolas Potel, quickly earning a reputation in Burgundy for small‑batch wines crafted from old vines. Due to financial challenges, he sold the brand and left the company in 2008, though Maison Nicolas Potel continues to uphold its quality today. Afterward, he established Domaine de Bellene in 2005 and launched Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008, continuing his dedication to terroir and excellence. Nicolas Potel passed away in June 2025 at the age of 56, leaving behind a remarkable winemaking legacy.
During his tenure at Maison Nicolas Potel, he produced the Charmes‑Chambertin Grand Cru 2007, sourced from Gevrey‑Chambertin’s largest Grand Cru vineyard, spanning about 30 hectares and granted AOC status in 1937. Known for its approachable yet profound style, the wine offers rounded fruit, silky tannins, and a deep structure, with notable aging potential.

A beautiful, highly expressive and high‑toned nose of red cherry, raspberry and currant notes features hints of earth and a touch of wildness. The delicious, supple and middleweight flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying energy on the silky, focused and wonderfully detailed finish that offers fine precision and depth. This is a very classy wine that is balanced all the way.
